Principal’S message

Ivelisse Rivera,Principal JHS 022 NYC DOE School

Dear JHS 22 Families,

As we begin another exciting school year at JHS 22, I want to welcome new and returning families warmly. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead and represent our JHS 022 community. I look forward to building strong, positive partnerships supporting our students, staff, and families.

Our commitment to providing an enriching, nurturing, and safe learning environment remains steadfast. Our priority is to create a learning environment where our students thrive in middle school while laying a solid foundation for high school and beyond.

We believe that every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Therefore, at JHS 022, we constantly strive to provide innovative instructional methods to engage students in literacy across every classroom, various applications in technology, and 21st-century skills yielding proficient readers, writers, speakers, listeners, and thinkers.

We are committed to preparing our students academically, socially, and emotionally so they can be successful in today’s society and beyond. This year, we are excited to announce some new initiatives and improvements:

1. Enhanced Learning Resources: We have invested in new learning materials and resources to support our students’ educational growth.

2. Safety Measures: Our students’ and staff’s health and well-being remain one of our top priorities. Having strict structures and protocols in place provides a safe environment for everyone.

3. Parent-Teacher Collaboration: We encourage open communication between parents and teachers. Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is actively involved in school activities, and we look forward to your participation.

4. Extracurricular Activities: We offer various extracurricular activities during the school week and on Saturdays to help students explore their interests and passions beyond the classroom. Our extracurricular activities include Step/Dance, Music, Art, Computer Science, Coding, Fencing, Crochet, Chess, a variety of Sports, and Culinary Arts.

5. Community Involvement: We believe in giving back to our community. We organize food distribution twice weekly and help feed over 2,000 families throughout the school year. We are also planning several community service projects throughout the year to instill a sense of civic responsibility in our students.

Each school year brings its own set of challenges, but together, as a strong and supportive school community, we can overcome anything that comes our way. Stay connected with us through our school website, newsletters, and social media channels to stay informed about school events, important dates, and updates.

Don’t hesitate to contact our staff or me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year. Your feedback and involvement are invaluable to us.

I look forward to an exciting year of growth, exploration, and achievement for every student at JHS 22. Let’s work together to make it a great year!

In Partnership,

Ivelisse Rivera
